Here’s a real treat for you. What do you get when you give the Prancing Horse free reign to pour every ounce of its go-faster knowledge into a track-only vehicle without the limits of racing homologation? The answer is the truly epic FXX K, seen here ripping around the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari circuit in Imola with hair-raising alacrity.
The cars are apparently undergoing final testing before they begin a two-year stint under Ferrari’s “Client-Test Driver” research and development program, slated to kick off at the Ferrari Racing Days event at the Hungaroring between June 26th and June 28th.
In total, 32 FXX K track cars will be produced, with each already sold for a cool $2.7 million. For the money, clients will get the chance to drive “their” FXX Ks at select racing events at tracks scattered across the globe. Engineers and pro drivers will be on hand to help them get the most from the uber-two-door, giving them the rush of putting the spurs to one of the fastest cars in existence. Ferrari, meanwhile, gets oodles of development and test data.
Ferrari says the FXX K was “developed to be completely uncompromising, incorporating technological innovations that will guarantee an unprecedented driving experience to the exclusive group of Client-Test Drivers with whom the Prancing Horse will roll out a test program over the coming two years.”
You and I may never get the chance to climb into the cockpit, but at least we can imagine what it’s like thanks to videos like this. Wanna get your earholes blasted by one of the best sounds in all of internal combustion-dom? Grab the headphones, press play, and crank it up. I promise you won’t be disappointed.
