Around since 2008, when it received a heavily redesigned body and a new V-6 engine, the second-generation Honda Pilot is set to retire at the end of the 2015 model year. Replacing it is a completely restyled version that promises to “raise the stakes in the mainstream three-row SUV segment with new technology, advanced safety, class-leading fuel economy and enhanced family utility and versatility.” Set to break cover at the Chicago Auto on February 12th, the new Pilot will showcase a brand-new style language with rounded design cues, an athletic waistline and flared wheel arches. A sloping roofline suggests that Honda took some inspiration from the CR-V while redesigning the Pilot.

“The new Pilot will raise the bar in a segment it helped to create, with more innovation, style, premium features and family utility than ever before,” said Jeff Conrad, senior vice president and general manager of the Honda Division, without going into specifics. However, we expect the third-gen Pilot to receive extensive updates on the inside too, as well as a slightly revised drivetrain. Read more about it below.
