Rider and writer Ted Dillard is in the process of completing his new book called “Power In Flux: The History of Electric Motorcycles.” The book can be described as a labor of love for Dillard, who drew inspiration from the Killacycle, a drag racing electric motorcycle monster that set numerous record runs in 2006.
You could say that the Killacycle unlocked a door of limitless opportunities for Dillard. Since that time, Dillard has dedicated most of his time ingratiating himself into the world of electric motorcycles. It even came to the point that he created a website solely for these bikes. He even built a few for himself, and most importantly, he also wrote a book that details the remarkable history and progress gained by electric motorcycles in recent memory.
Of course, writing a book is very different from publishing it. Anybody can write something but without the finances to properly fund the publishing of these books, whatever that was written remains as such. This is where we all come in.
Dillard has launched a Kickstarter campaign to help fund his book. Should he reach the target funding mark, Dillard plans to release Power in Flux: The History of Electric Motorcycles as a 250-page, full color volume that will tackle, among other topics, the history of electric motorcycles, the evolution of electric batteries, and the birth of electric motorcycle racing teams.
I took a quick look at Dillard’s Kickstarter page and was pleasantly surprised to see that he had already received just under $4,000 in pledges, close to half of his $10,000 target. There’s still plenty of time to help Dillard reach his target since the project will remain open until July 1, 2015, at 5:33 a.m. EST.
