The Kawasaki KLR650 isn’t the kind of bike that hardcore racers will go crazy for, but it does hold a special place in the hearts of young and up-coming riders looking to break into the adventure scene. In some ways, the bike’s relative anonymity has served it since the KLR650 has built an aura of versatility and reliability that’s uncommon on this segment.

We can even ask aftermarket company Touratech for its opinion on the KLR650 and chances are, it’s going to have nothing but good things to say about it. That’s because Touratech is familiar with the KL650, thanks to a recent review it did of the dual-sport adventure bike.

To be fair, the parts company did have a vested interest in doing this review of sorts since the KLR650 it used was carrying a number of its of its KLR650-specific parts and accessories. Watch the video closely and you’ll notice a handful of aftermarket items on the bike. The most obvious ones are the exhaust pipe and the side stands switch protectors. But the adventure bike also received a headlight metal mesh protector, wide serrated foot pegs, topcase racks, progressive fork springs, two new rear stocks, and a rear suspension spring courtesy of Hyperpro.

The additions to the bike are impressive and should give the KLR650 even more versatility and sturdiness when it hits the open road. That bodes well for owners of the bike since they can get more out of it than they otherwise could have.
